Welfare in Japan and Europe
Second, the main purpose of welfare systems in each country differs. Japanese government uses welfare system so that we live healthy and longer as much as possible. To accomplish that, Japan has not only pension system but also wellness programs and support for parents raising children. In wellness programs, health centers try to improve health condition of citizens to have a regular health check. Japan’s wellness program focuses on supporting older people. European countries have these programs, too. However, they focus on babies and young children and have wellness programs such as vaccination. In addition, the Japanese government encourages each local government to make its town more convenient for older people to live. One of the most famous examples of that is a barrier free society. In this, buildings have slopes instead of stairs so that older people can use them conveniently as much as possible. In addition, roads have differences in level between walkway and roadway as less as possible. In European countries, buildings do not have barrier free design. However, walkways and roadways have nearly same level in differences. Therefore, people may not feel inconvenient walking streets.
In conclusion, welfare system in each country has unique points. In addition, these have merits and demerits respectively. Therefore, we need to improve it referring to other countries. Otherwise, we can live a convenient life.
