The Feature and Purpose of ISIS
and
Solution of ISIS Problem
In the world, there are a lot of problems. For example, environmental issues like global warming, the economic gap problem, and some other problems. Especially, the biggest problem in recent years is the Islamic State in Iraq and the Syria (ISIS) problem. It is not the day that I do not hear the news about ISIS. The other day, two Japanese were murdered by ISIS. So, I have concern about this problem. In this essay, I will talk about the feature and purpose of ISIS. After that, I will talk about a solution to this problem.
There are two main features of ISIS. First, ISIS is good at using SNS like twitter or Facebook. Perhaps you also saw their video message in some media. ISIS is using it to transmitting their message or claim. As a result, some foreigners are participating in ISIS. Second, they can manage a large territory. It means they have great governance system and large sums of money. Concerning the money, since they had occupied the huge oil fields, it is possible to get money by smuggling oil.
The purpose of ISIS is building a new kingdom. They have complex background. During the First World War, Sykes-Picot Agreement was signed by the United Kingdom and France. In this agreement, they decided their territory. As a result, a straight border was drawn in the Arab area. It brought the discontent of people who lived in this area, it has occur a lot of problem. After this war, this border arise a lot of dispute. ISIS problem is one of them. ISIS wants to eliminate the border that was figured in Sykes-Picot agreement. They want to figure a new border and assist with the prosperity of their organization. They think it is jihad, the war for the Islamic community.
To solve this problem, I think the most important thing is discussions. President Obama (2014) argued that if ISIS was allowed to weaken, eventually it would be destroyed. However, fighting is not an effective solution. ISIS counter attack gradually intensified. There is no visible end. They have continued to battle. Additionally, even if it is temporarily destroyed, ISIS, the new organization, will appear in place of the ISIS. The most important thing is removing the complaints of the people who live in the Arab region. So, I think it is important that the people of these countries redefine borders and the region. It may take time, but it is the most peaceful means.
